Scaling AI-Assisted Design Cycle

Scaling AI-Assisted Design Cycle

Copilot enabled engineering teams to turn ideas into interactive prototypes during early conversations with business stakeholders. This made experimentation faster, more tangible, and easier for stakeholders to respond to.

However, these prototypes sometimes became the starting point for design without going through the full UX process. By the time designers became involved, the direction had already gained stakeholder support, leaving limited time to understand the customer journey, explore alternatives, test assumptions, or refine the experience before development moved forward.

I led product strategy and design across digital banking, mobile experiences, and internal applications, bringing customer evidence, employee needs, business priorities, banking requirements, and technical constraints together to create clearer, more connected digital experiences.

Three connected problems were affecting growth and slowing service.

The Business Problem

DIGITAL BANKING · MOBILE · INTERNAL APPLICATIONS

01

Customer journeys

High-value digital journeys contained friction that pushed customers toward branches and assisted channels.

02

Employee workflows

Fragmented systems required employees to repeat work and reconstruct information across applications.

03

Product delivery

Experience issues were discovered too late, creating rework and inconsistent product quality.

MOBILE · INTERNAL APPLICATIONS

Modernizing connected banking experiences for customers and employees

I led product strategy and design across digital banking, mobile experiences, and internal applications—bringing customer evidence, employee needs, business priorities, banking requirements, and technical constraints together to create clearer, more connected product

The Business Problem

AI Changed the Workflow Before the Organization Changed the Operating Model

Engineering teams are increasingly using AI coding assistants to generate interactive concepts directly with business stakeholders. This makes ideas tangible sooner, but it can also bypass parts of the established requirements, design, review, and handoff process.

Business stakeholders may react to a working prototype before Design has evaluated the customer journey, content, accessibility, or design-system compliance. By the time Design becomes involved, the concept may already be interpreted as an approved solution.

At the same time, teams may experiment with different AI tools without shared criteria for data handling, licensing, reliability, or appropriate use.

Reduction in Design Rework

50%

Early UX planning, a shared Jira workflow, and the implementation of the design system cut design inconsistencies and reduced rework by 50% across major initiatives

Faster Design Hand-offs

3x

The updated design operations streamlined collaboration with engineering, enabling 3x faster hand-offs and accelerating delivery across sprints.

Adoption

100%

By the end of Q2, UX was fully integrated into the PDLC, achieving 100% adoption. This led to fewer missed requirements, more user-centered decisions, and smoother team collaboration.

35%

Increase in client deposits.

Streamlined journeys and a clearer interface contributed to stronger deposit growth.

3.2→ 4.6

iOS mobile experinece rating

Mobile UX modernization raised the App Store rating and strengthened user loyalty.

3x

Faster request turnaround

A new application cut turnaround time, improving client satisfaction and team efficiency.

Measurable outcomes

Redesigning key journeys and creating clearer experiences delivered measurable results for clients and the business.

Leading the UX function while staying hands-on across strategy, design, and delivery.

I shaped the initial concept, made the experience structure visible, surfaced missing decisions, and led the work from high-level direction through detailed execution and delivery.

Account Opening

Guided customer account setup
Organized customer information, eligibility checks, and outstanding actions into a structured workflow that made application progress easier to understand.

Compliance review

Making requirements easier to review
Related information, documentation, and outstanding actions are grouped together so employees can quickly identify what requires attention.

Business onboarding

Managing a more complex application
The experience organizes business, ownership, and authorized-signer information into manageable steps while keeping the overall application status visible.

Loan Servicing

Supporting faster operational decisions
Customer, account, and request details are brought into one workspace, reducing back-and-forth between systems and supporting more efficient processing.

My Roles and Responsibilities

Research and strategy
Uncovered friction points and defined key opportunities with product and analytics teams.

Experience design
Designed concepts, flows, screens, and interaction models while identifying requirements gaps.

Design and team leadership
Led detailed design and prototyping, surfacing gaps before development.

Delivery and quality
Partnered with engineering and QA to resolve constraints and improve delivery quality
